A card titled “the monk” created by Fr. Jorge for his soul collage deck of cards
Bishop Seraphim offers
the
two half-day workshops to facilitate the process
of creating soul collage cards. Soul collage
is an individual creative process for deep
self exploration that combines intuition with the language of symbols, dreams,
and archetypes to create your
own personalized deck of cards that
may be used for divination, holistic integration, and contem
plation. We will be using the process of Soul
Collage ™ as described in Seena B. Frost’s book, Soul Collage. The soul collage deck consists of four
suits known respectively as committee, community, companion, and council cards. The possibilities are endless
as each suit reflects archetypes
and images unique to each
individual’s life journey. As the
title of the work-shop indicates,
the process which is used is one of cutting,
arranging, and pasting in a collage format to create
cards related to each of the four
suits. Participants are asked to bring at least 12 magazines that contain color
photos, art work, pictures, and images that lend themselves to the collage pro-
cess. A pair of scissors and a
glue bottle are also required. Magazines will be shared by the entire
group. The registration
fee for each workshop is $30.
Call Bishop Seraphim to RSVP
by March 1st.

Welcome Deacon Robert Pieper |

The worshiping community at the Shrine welcomes Bro.
Robert Pieper who was ordained to the diaconate on Saturday, January 25 by
Bishop Seraphim. Brother Robert will assist at the altar alongside the bishop
and other clergy The Deacon's role is to proclaim the Gospel at the communal
liturgy and assist in the distribution of the consecra-ted elements. As a
deacon, Bro. Robert is also authorized to baptize, sanctify marriages, and
preside at funeral services.
On
the first Sunday of Lent, March 1st , as part of our Liturgical
service, Bro. Robert will make his formal profession of simple vows as a member
of the Passionist congregation. This Congregation of the Passion was founded by
St. Paul of the Cross in 1744 with the express purpose of forming communities
of men & women dedicated to the contemplation of and preaching about the
passion and death of Jesus Christ. Congratulations Brother Robert as you take
this bold step into the DEEPER life of the Spirit.
Tibetan Mysticism and a Green Tara empowerment
Saturday, April 4th
10 – 3:00 p.m.
Lama William Gameson, who is also a seminarian in the Church
of Antioch Sophia Divinity School will offer an overview of the structure of
Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan Mysticism. William will also provide the Tibetan
view of the divine feminine ~ specifically Green Tara ~ a major female
archetype. In the afternoon Lama William will confer a Green Tara Empowerment
- a Tibetan ceremony which consists of a
blessing to remove obstacles from our lives and our spiritual practice. Tara is
a female Buddha most benevolent, who pacifies all the impediments to life which
is the condition of all beings. She is as infinite as space, and is the essence
of deathless life and knowledge. The initiation includes her specialized
functions of prolonging the recipient’s life by removing his/her diseases, sins, obscura-tions, and
death and by empowering their body, speech and mind. Before the ceremony each
participant will learn to chant in Tibetan so they can actively participate
during the ceremony. Devotees will also make Tormas which are small offering
statues made of roasted oats which each of the participants will then present
to Green Tara during the empow-erment ceremony. At the end of the ceremony each
participant will receive a copy of the Green Tara practice to do at home whenever
they wish. It is a rare blessing to be able to attend an empowerment, as they
aren't offered very often in this area.
LAMA WILLIAM GAMESON
Green Tara empowerment is an important and
indispensable ritual to initiate and empower the practitioner given by a
realized master to its practice, evocation, and employment. It gives permission
to practice the ritual concerning the Green Tara, the deity of wisdom and long
life.
The class fee which
includes the empowerment is $45 per person
Making the donation also generates good karma
for each participant since the proceeds are used to support Tibetan monks and
nuns and the Shrine of Holy Wisdom.
Please RSVP by Wednesday,
April 1st.
